$10 million in training funds available through State of Michigan
Funds to increase the skills of workers are available through the State of Michigan’s Skilled Trades Training Fund for occupations in which there is a documented talent need. This is a competitive grant program, and it is anticipated that demand for funding will be significant, so interested companies should apply early.
Any company can apply, and there is no maximum request, although the $10 million in available funds is for the entire state. Recipients must hire trainees at the end of the program, or retain existing employees trained with grant funds.
An informational meeting about the grants is set for 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Michigan Works! Livingston Service Center, 1240 Packard Drive in Howell, at the Mott Community College – Livingston Center in the Trans-West Industrial Park.
