Day of Caring set for Aug. 20
Livingston County United Way’s 13th annual Day of Caring — the largest single-day volunteerism event in Livingston County — is set for Wednesday, Aug. 20.
Volunteers can register as a group or individual, and select preferred shifts and types of work to do. The day is split into shifts: morning (8:30 a.m. to noon) and afternoon (1-4:30 p.m.), or the entire day. Volunteers are treated to a free picnic lunch at the Howell City Park.
Piet Lindhout of Lindhout Associates Architects chairs the event and points to the power of the community in making a difference for individuals, agencies and businesses through the Day of Caring: “The culture of caring is alive and well in Livingston County as evidenced by the enthusiastic outpouring of help we see each year,”Lindhout said. “For a one-day event to bring together so many people doing a wide variety of repairs, painting, gardening and more is just great. Seeing our local businesses sending teams of employees during their work day to give back to the community really warms my heart.”
