Hug-a-Plug creator set for Dec. 11 LegUP! meeting
Local inventor and entrepreneur Bob Green is the featured speaker at the next LegUP! meeting, set for 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at The Johnson Center at Cleary University.
Green will share the story of the development and launch of Hug-a-Plug, proof that necessity is, indeed, the mother of invention.
Frustrated with not being able to place furniture flush against the wall because electrical cords stuck out too far, Green went shopping in search of an adapter that would allow the cord to lay flat against the wall.
Finding nothing available in stores, he invented Hug-a-Plug, a 125v 15a adapter plug, which was released for sale in March 2010. The plug’s functional design, versatility and usefulness earned it the Retailers Choice Award for Innovative Products by Do-It-Yourself Retailing’s magazine Retailers’ Choice Panel.
Hug-a-Plug is headquartered in Brighton. The plugs are manufactured in Indiana. You can learn all about the innovative product at www.hugaplug.com.
