‘Mommologues: Musings on Motherhood’ set for May 6 at Opera House
Some of Livingston County’s best-known and most-beloved writers and performers come together at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, at the Howell Opera House in celebration of Mother’s Day. The event, “Mommologues: Musings on Motherhood,” benefits LACASA, the organization in Livingston County that works with victims and survivors of child abuse, sexual assault and domestic violence.
Readers sharing pieces on motherhood include acclaimed storyteller Jeff Doyle; award-winning journalists Buddy Moorehouse and Maria Stuart; WHMI 93.5’s Jon King; Howell chamber President Pat Convery; blogger and former Pinckney Village president Rebecca Foster, The Great Foodini, aka Renee Chodkowski; and Mona Shand, a producer and correspondent for Public News Service.
“Moms play an important role in our community and in our society, and we want to celebrate that experience and give it a voice,” Shand said. “The Mommologues puts into words some of the what we’ve learned from our moms and as parents ourselves.”
“Mommologues” is produced by Shand and Stuart. Sponsors of the event include Goddess Racing Series/Epic Races, Brighton Ford, Diamond’s Steak and Seafood, Brunner’s Restaurant, Christina Maria Photo & Design, WHMI 93.5, and The Livingston Post.
Tickets for “Mommologues: Musings on Motherhood” are $20 each and can be purchased at www.lacasacenter.org.
