Downtown Howell was the center of the holiday spirit universe Friday when the Fantasy of Lights kicked off the Christmas season. From the movie star grand marshals, Melissa Gilbert and Timothy Busfield, to the Fantasy 5K runners (some of whom were decorated), to the hundreds of thousands of lights in the parade, it was a beautiful event worthy of Santa himself.

You can read the story in the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus and click through the beautiful gallery of photos by photographers Alan Ward and Gillis Benedict.

“Thanks to all who were part of the parade,” said Fantasy of Lights Director Michelle Tokan. “All of the floats, marching bands and units were spectacular, and helped brighten the city up for the holiday season.”

The parade comes to life each year because of the hard work of the Fantasy of Lights Committee, chaired by Les Rodwell, deputy chief/fire marshal of the Howell Area Fire Department.

“Thank you, Fantasy of Lights Committee, for making this year’s event one of the best,” Tokan said.

The annual Fantasy of Lights holiday event is hosted by the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Major sponsor is Cobb-Hall Insurance. Supporting sponsors are Blue Care Network of Michigan and Citizens Insurance.
