Studio West Gallery, a Work Skills Corporation venture, will host its first juried art show from Sept. 11 through Oct. 16, 2015, at 111 S. West St. in downtown Brighton. Paintings, photographs and mixed media pieces from three dozen Southeast Michigan artists will be on display. The public is invited to an opening night reception 7:30-9:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11. Cost is $10 at the door and includes light appetizers and beverages.
Studio West Gallery, located in downtown Brighton, is open noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and noon to 8 p.m. Wednesdays. In addition to cash awards for first-, second-, and third-place awards, artists are vying for a best-of-show distinction voted on by visitors.
Founded in 2011, Studio West Gallery showcases artwork made by people with and without disabilities, and has become a popular destination for residents of Livingston County and beyond. Artists take pride in displaying and selling their pieces for income.
