United Way’s Triple Money Monday set for Dec. 14

TMM bannerDonations to the Livingston County United Way on Monday, December 14, will be tripled in value thanks to generous sponsors, and the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to be a collection site.

Triple Money Monday, as the annual giving day is well known, has become more than just a day to raise money for the community impact organization.

“Businesses and individuals alike tell us how excited they are to be part of the energy of Triple Money Monday,” said David Morse, Livingston County United Way campaign co-chair. “They know that giving to the United Way encompasses many programs that help struggling families get back on their feet. And they look forward to having their gifts tripled for greater impact locally.

“The economy is stronger than it has been in recent years, but we know 20 percent of county residents struggle to make ends meet – that’s on top of seven percent living in poverty. The United Way’s programs are not just Band-aids or ‘quick fixes.’ They move families forward to become independent and stable.”

The Livingston County United Way empowers struggling working families with crucial programs like nutritious food in local pantries, utility and shelter assistance, an eviction diversion program, quality preschool for at-risk children, and much more.

Triple Money Monday is a heartwarming community event with a variety of ways to enjoy it. There are collection locations throughout the county – with many local businesses offering incentives to donate.

In addition to giving online at www.lcunitedway.org or by phone (810.494.3000), residents are encouraged to donate in person at any of these collection sites during regular business hours:

— Livingston County United Way, 2980 Dorr Road, Brighton (7am-7pm, homemade cookies and hot coffee)
— Brighton Area: Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce, FirstMerit Bank, Brighton Ford
— Fowlerville Area: FirstMerit Bank
— Hartland Area: Hartland Chamber of Commerce, FirstMerit Bank, Hartland Insurance Agency (a free gift to warm generous hands)
— Howell Area: Howell Area Chamber of Commerce, FirstMerit Bank (complimentary hot chocolate bar), Jonna’s Market (free slice of pizza)

Triple Money Monday is possible through these generous sponsors: Howell Rotary’s Tour de Livingston, Ted & Jane Von Voigtlander Foundation, St. John Providence, anonymous donors, Blue Cross Blue Shield of MI, and General Motors Proving Ground.
